Come on, you knew this had to be on here somewhere.  The long version too.  MJ may have been a sick puppy, but this short film by John Landis really was one of the first to bring home the full potential of the music video as complete short form film, with production values rivaling those on the big screen. It’s a dying art now, with few labels willing to invest this kind of money on something that will never be seen outside of YouTube and with the album sales these videos promoted now dead in the water. Still, in the MTV heyday the format reached surprisingly sophisticated heights.
